Sri Lankan President to fly to Mumbai to watch World Cup final
Mar 31, Colombo: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa is to fly to Mumbai to watch the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup final between Sri Lanka and India on Saturday, April 02 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Director General of the President's Media Unit and the President's Spokesperson Bandula Jayasekara has told the media that the President wanted the Sri Lankan team to win the World Cup as a tribute to Muttiah Muralitharan who is to retire from international cricket after the World Cup.
The Indian media has reported that the Indian Government with the International Cricket Council (ICC) is to make all the arrangements for the visit of the Sri Lankan President.
Pakistan Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani went to Mohali to watch yesterday's India-Pakistan World Cup semifinal on an inviatation from Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
