Jennings to coach Sri Lanka?

Ray Jennings (File)
Cape Town and Bloemfontein - Former star South African wicketkeeper, Ray Jennings, is in the running to be the next Sri Lanka coach.

Jennnings confirmed that Sri Lanka’s new captain, Tillakaratne Dilshan, had discussions with him during the recent Indian Premier League.

The Sri Lankans were also interested in Jennings's services back in 2005.

Dilshan, previously from the Delhi Daredevils, played under Jennings for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in this year’s IPL.

“He (Dilshan) probably liked how I do things,” said Jennings.

There've also been suggestions that Jennings could become the new Titans coach following the departure of Chris van Noordwyk.

However, according to Jennings there’s no hurry and nothing has been confirmed yet.

He is still bound to Cricket South Africa (CSA), and if something comes up, he confirmed he will discuss it with CSA CEO, Gerald Majola.

Meanwhile, Jennings will coach the South African Under-19 team on a tour to England in July.
