Aug 06, Pallekele: Sri Lanka beat Australia by 35 runs to win the First T20 match of the two-match series as Australia crumbled to 163-8 today at Pallekele International Stadium.
After winning a delayed toss Australia set Sri Lanka to bat in the match under the lights. Captain Tillakaratne Dilshan scored a century to power up Sri Lanka and set Australia a formidable goal of 199 to chase.
Dilshan scored an unbeaten 104 out of 57 balls with 12 fours and 5 sixes and with a 4th wicket partnership with Jeevan Mendis scoring an unbeaten 29 out of 19 balls to set Australia for 199.
Sri Lanka and Australia will fight it out on Monday for the second of the T20 series in Pallekele.
