Apr 06, Colombo: Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has appointed Assistant Coach Stuart Law as the interim replacement for the outgoing Head Coach Trevor Bayliss.
The Australian Bayliss, who took over the Sri Lankan team after Tom Moody in August 2007, last October announced that he would resign after the 2011 World Cup.
Former Australia batsman Law who had been assisting Bayliss since October 2009 will be the interim coach of the Sri Lanka team for their England tour in May.
Sri Lanka will begin its tour of England in the second week of May playing three Tests, one T20 and five ODIs.
SLC secretary Nishantha Ranatunga has told the media that they have asked Law to take over as coach for the England tour until a successor for Bayliss is finalized.
Law, 42, has expressed interest in the position last year saying that if an offer was made he is willing to consider the position.
Since the defeat to India at the World Cup finals Sri Lanka Cricket has faced with resignations of the Captain Kumar Sangakkara, Vice-Captain Mahela Jayawardena, and the Selection Committee.
